Die Romanzen op. 94 entstanden in dem für Schumann äußerst ertragreichen Jahr 1849. Zum Weihnachtsfest soll er sie als sein hundertstes Opusculum seiner Frau Clara geschenkt haben. Die autographe Partitur ist heute nicht mehr nachzuweisen. Für die Neuausgabe konnten der Erstdruck aus dem Jahre 1851 sowie die autographen Entwürfe der Gerhard Stempnik-Sammlung herangezogen werden. Die Neuausgabe jetzt erstmals mit zusätzlich beigelegter Original-Stimme für Klarinette, wie ursprünglich im Erstdruck vorgesehen.


Schumann wrote his "Romances" op. 94 in 1849, a very fruitful year for him. He allegedly presented them as his "one hundredth opusculum" to his wife Clara at Christmas. The autograph score is considered lost today. This new edition was prepared fromthe first edition of 1851 as well as from the autograph sketches in the Gerhard Stempnik Collection. This complete new edition also includes the original clarinet part as a supplement for the very first time, following the original intent of thefirst edition.
