Of course, no-one will have time to look at the Breitkopf Archiv while playing these pieces on the piano. Although the first edition of the famous Kinderszenen is a pleasure to look at, the artistic refinements of Breitkopf's 19th-century editions have to be admired in leisure. Even more leisure is required to fully appreciate the informative and detailed introductory notes by Joachim Draheim. But after the eyes and mind have been satisfied, it is time to go back to the piano and conjure up the childhood scenes of the Schumann family!
