Georg Friedrich Haendel (1685-1759): Cuatro Himnos para la Coronación del Rey Jorge II. Partitura general.

Composed in 1727 for the coronation of King George II, these anthems are superb examples of George Frideric Handel's ceremonial music. This four-part collection consists of "Zadok, the Priest," with its deceptively simple string introduction that explodes dramatically with the entrance of the chorus; "The King shall rejoice," an elaborate polyphonic piece; "My heart is inditing," a warm and delicate accompaniment to the part of the ceremony during which the Queen was crowned; and the magnificent conclusion, "Let Thy hand be strengthened."
A splendid expression of Handel's genius in this genre, these anthems are reproduced here from the authoritative early edition. Musicians and music lovers will treasure this handsome and inexpensive republication of that work.
