Prólogo de Janos Starker

'Cello Technique' is not an instruction book or a 'cello method' but an analysis of the physics and physiology of playing the instruments. Gerhard Mantel explain in scientifics terms the learning processes, bodily movements, and principles of sound production involved. By means of simple drawings and easily performed experiments, he demonstrates how to conserve one's energy and avoid fatigue and muscular tension.

The book addresses such techniques as placement of the finger on the fingerboard, position changes, vibrato, various types of bowing, breathing, and total body movement. It offers valuable advice on how to get the most out of practicing and how 'not' to practice. For performers, teachers, and mature students.
