Una fantasia (1995) is a work in four movements for string quartet and piano. It is not a free fantasy without any form, as the title might suggest, for the form grows out of the motivic material. The individual instruments are frequently highlighted in virtuosic passages or moments of meditation. While mutually related, the movements each have their own individual profile. Una fantasia was commissioned by the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival for performance in July 1995. Duration: 13-14 minutes.
