Strophe, Antistrophe and Epode, for piano

The intervals constituting Strophe proceed in ascending order from the 2nd to the 7th. The musical sections, each devoted to a separate interval, are designed to display the individual character of the interval in question through appropriate melodic and rhythmic treatment. In Antistrophe, the intervals progress in reverse (i.e. descending) order from the 7th to the 2nd. Finally the ascending intervallic order (substantially metamorphosed) encountered in Strophe is repeated.
