The G Minor String Trio is a work of Sibelius's mature chamber music period. It was never finished, and the only completed movement, Lento, has been included in this edition. The work is a combination of various forms and in itself traces a symphonic span. Sibelius used a similar one-movement construction in his seventh symphony.
