Weber's music for Preciosa can be regarded as an exceptional work in two respects: on the one hand, it stands out from Weber's further music output for the dramatic theatre as far as extent and quality are concerned, on the other hand, it holds a special position within the 19th century incidental music tradition as far as the history of composition and criticism is concerned. In addition to the score (WGA 1039-10) the piano reduction is now available as well. It also puts the pieces of music in the context of Wolff's play, i.e. embedded in dialogues.
