How to Use This Web

Item status

Different expressions with specific meanings are used to indicate the status of the items that form the catalog of El Argonauta. The status are not fixed butvariable depending on different circumstances (editor's information, sale or reception of copies, etc.) 

Available: There are copies of the title in the bookshop at the time of updating the website.

Delivery pending: Title has been requested from the supplier and it is expected to arrive approximately within the period specified.

On order (coming soon): Item does not present problems of availability, but it is not in the bookshop at this time. If an order is placed, it is requested from the supplier inmediately and it is expected to arrive within the period specified.

On order: Item is not available at the bookshop. It will be supplied only if the customer order it. The date of arrival is calculated on the basis of an order placed at this time.

Print on demand: Item is not avalilable at the bookshop. The publisher does not keep copies stored and printed them only when it is demanded, so we cannot estimate a date of arrival. In ordering several books, those with this status will not retain those already available.

Irregular availability: Item is not available at the bookshop. For several reasons, the date of arrival of the item is so irregular that we cannot give our customers an estimated date. Purchasing option is disabled but you can provide us an email to be notified when the item is again available.

Temporarily unavailable: Item is not available at the bookshop. For several reasons and for an indefinite period, we cannot order it from the publisher.  Purchasing option is disabled but you can provide us an email to be notified if the item is again available.

Reprinting: Item is not available at the bookshop. The publisher is working on a new edition or printing. We cannot give our customers an estimated date of arrival. Purchasing option is disabled but you can provide us an email to be notified if the item is again available.

Forthcoming: Item is a new title from the publisher but it is not yet available. We cannot give our customers an estimated date of arrival. Purchasing option is disabled but you can provide us an email to be notified when the item is again available.

Out of print: Item is not available from the publisher anymore. Purchasing option is disabled but you can provide us an email to be notified if the item is again available.

Methods & Exercises / Scores & Critical Editions

We distinguish those item for easy searching. The definitions used have only a practical sense; they must not be considered academical terms but an aid to better understand the nature of each item that appears on the website.

Methods & Exercises

Teaching texts aimed at practicing a musical instrument. It includes learning of basics of music theory and practice (musical language, rhythm, ear training, etc).

• Methods: Usually presented as progressive series with gradation on skill level.
• Exercises: Works consisting on scales, chords or pieces in which didactic intent dominates aesthetics.

Scores & Critical Editions

Printed music, considered usually as part of the repertory of an instrument or ensemble. Some scores have special characteristics that make a distinction from a "regular" score:

• Critical edition: Score revised by an expert in which is intended as a faithful reconstruction of the composer's intentions; the edition's criteria are discussed in a critical study that usually includes the sources analysis, the contextualized study of the work and the description of the edition methods.
• Urtext: Score edited for performance purposes that intend to meet the composer's intentions. Often based on original manuscripts or on editions revised or authorized by the author. The critical support is short because of the practical nature of the issue.
• Facsimil: Score that accurately reproduces a previous edition. Usually, they are reproductions of first editions or manuscripts.

Purchasing process

If you are a new or invited customer.

You must introduce, step by step:

• First name, surname, phone number and email (mandatory)
• Delivery address (mandatory)
• VAT and billing address if you need an invoice (optional)

A window appears with the chosen items, quantities, the delivery address and the billing address (delivery and billing addresses are the same by default).

On a next window, you can choose the payment method. After that, your order is ready for check-out.

The next window will show you:

• Selected items.
• Shipping charges, calculated on the total weight, payment method and shipping address.
• Information entered (name, shipping address, etc).
• Payment details.
• A textbox for your comments.
• The chance of being registered to avoid entering your personal details next time. A password must be provided. This will save your personal name and address (no credit card details) for your next order as a registered customer.

If you are a registered customer: enter your email and password. You can complete your order only by choosing the payment method.
